07-20-23 - All trails in the Salt Creek Corridor Regional Park are now open.
07-19-23 AT 12:30 PM - The Niguel Fire reaches 100% containment.

07-19-23 AT 9:25 AM - The Niguel Fire remains at 80% containment with no threat to the public.
The fire remains at approximately 4 acres in size. The cause of the fire is under investigation with no cause yet identified. No structures were damaged, and no injuries were reported.
Fire crews remained onsite throughout the night and treated minor flare ups, which is common given the circumstances. Strike teams will continue to treat the fire area to reach 100% containment.
All road closures have now been lifted. The portion of Salt Creek Trail from South Peak Drive and Niguel Road remains closed.
07-18-23 AT 8:05 PM - The Niguel Fire is now at 80% containment.
The fire has remained at approximately 4 acres in size, with no structures damaged, and no injuries reported.
Fire crews will remain onsite throughout the night to gain additional containment, and to treat any hotspots or flare ups.
The only remaining road closures in place are the southbound lanes on Niguel Road from Club House Dr to Beacon Hill Way; and Camino del Avion, from South Peak Dr to Barkentine Blvd.
These remaining road closures remain in place to assure continued access by public safety personnel.
07-18-23 AT 5:40 PM - The fire continues to hold at approximately 4 acres.
No homes have burned and no evacuation orders are in place.
The only remaining road closures in place are the southbound lanes on Niguel Road (from Club House Dr to Beacon Hill Way) and Camino del Avion (from South Peak Dr to Barkentine Blvd).
A Care and Reception Shelter remained open at Crown Valley Community Center, 29751 Crown Valley Pkwy. If you have any pets and are in need of assistance please call Mission Viejo Animal Services Center at 949-470-3045.
07-18-23 AT 3:07 PM - The fire continues to hold at approximately 4 acres.
No homes have burned and no evacuation orders are in place.
07-18-23 AT 2:10 PM - Currently no evacuation orders are in place.
If you are home in the affected area, please remain in your homes to keep the streets clear to allow for safe work by public safety units on the roadways in the neighborhood.
07-18-23 AT APPROXIMATELY 1:00 PM - A VEGETATION FIRE was reported near Camino del Avion and Niguel Rd.
Road closures were in place on Beacon Hill and Ridgeway Ave. Public safety personnel reported to the scene.
Road closures were initially put in place at Beacon Hill, Ridgeway, Niguel, South Peak, and Clubhouse as a precaution, allowing public safety crews to access the area.

Evacuation Terminology
Evacuation Order
Mandatory evacuation order with hard road closures. Evacuated individuals will not be allowed to enter the area until the Evacuation Order is lifted.
Evacuation Warning
Voluntary evacuation to give you advance warning in a slow moving event. This is to allow individuals time to evacuate an area.
Shelter-in-Place
You are directed to stay in your residence, school, workplace or other building because it has been determined that staying where you are is safer than evacuating.
