CRV Redemption

Recycling Basics

What: Almost every bottle and can you use can be recycled. Look at the label for the universal recycle symbol and the words CA CASH REFUND or CA CRV.* Containers with these markings are good to go in your curbside bin and will be accepted at the recycling center.

*Other acceptable labels include “California Redemption Value,” “CA Redemption Value” or “California Cash Refund.”

How: It’s easy to add recycling to your daily routine. There’s no need to wash or crush your recyclables. Just separate your aluminum, glass, and plastic containers in different bags or bins, and head for the recycling center.

Where: Visit CalRecycle's website to find a beverage container recycling center near you and for more information on recycling California Refund Value (CRV) containers.

Why: Because there’s money in it for you! In addition to saving energy, natural resources, and preventing carbon dioxide from being released into the air, bringing bottles and cans to the recycling center will put cash in your pocket.

Please contact CalRecycle with any additional questions or concerns.

Recycle From Home

What: Recycle From Home is a residential CA CRV Recycling pick-up service that makes it easy to recycle right from your driveway or doorstep. Instead of taking cans and bottles to recycling centers, Recycle From Home's service vans can pick up your CA CRV recyclable items and pay you without leaving your home. While Recycle From Home only accepts recyclables with the CRV label, other recyclable items that aren't marked CA CRV can still be recycled in your curbside recycling bin.

How: First, sign up at recyclefromhome.com, and you will receive a welcome pack containing collection bags, barcode labels, and written program instructions, all free of charge (after your initial collection). Next, once your load of recyclables is ready, schedule a pickup time through their website. Your recycling redemption funds are then sent to you electronically or as a check by mail within one business day.
