Weed Abatement Program

Public Works provides yearly weed abatement services for 13 City-owned and maintained open spaces, covering 45 acres of land. This program is designed to meet the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) standards by reducing fire hazards. Open space weeds are maintained and trimmed to below six inches using a combination of power equipment and goats. Public Works relies on goats as part of its weed abatement program. Goats are a natural and sustainable way to control weeds without the use of power equipment or pesticides.
